April 2026

Lee Cooper, American Legion Post 911 Cedar Park

Greetings, fellow legionnaires. April is our 16th anniversary! Come celebrate with us. We will have a busy meeting with an update from CP Parks and Rec on the Flag ceremony site. We will be awarding a scholarship to a young lady from Vista Ridge High and inducting the 2026 slate of Officers. This will be my last newsletter as Commander. Thank you all for allowing me to hold the position, and especially for your support over the past two years. I feel we have made several positive changes during this time, and I am confident the best is yet to come. Please note that the success of the Post comes from YOUR support. It is your participation that makes the difference. I will see you at the meetings and several of our events. I will also be at our adopted clubhouse most Wednesday evenings. Hope to see some of you there.

- Lee

We have nominated several outstanding candidates for both. Our candidate and parent meet-and-greet will be held at the May meeting. Come congratulate them.

Veteran Memorial Park Flag Retirement site:

Veteran Memorial Park Flag Retirement site. For those not aware, we have been holding an annual flag retirement ceremony at the CP Veterans Memorial Park. The site is in serious need of maintenance. The Post reached out to the CP Parks and Rec department about having a formal project to upgrade the location. They were in agreement and offered to go half with us to fund the improvements. The project needed to be formally approved by the City Council, and I am happy to report that it was received on a 7-0 vote at the last Council meeting. Parks and Rec are going to move forward with the goal of it being ready by Flag Day in June. Now we need to raise our portion of the project approx. $7000. Current site Proposed concept
